Green Economy North to Recognize Sustainable Businesses, Environmental Champions, at Evening of Recognition
Sudbury residents are invited to a ‘Green Gala’ to celebrate Earth Day, and local businesses who are making the environment a priority. Business, community and environmental leaders will gather on Thursday April 20th for the first Green Economy North Evening of Recognition. The event, held at College Boreal, will recognize individuals and organizations that have made strides toward sustainable business, including this year’s Environmental Champions.
Green Economy North is a program of reThink Green, and is Sudbury’s sustainability program for businesses. Its growing membership includes businesses of all types, from a major mining operation to a small professional theatre.
“The first year of Green Economy North was very successful,” said Rebecca Danard, Executive Director of reThink Green. “The Evening of Recognition will be a celebration of our membership and the great environmental work that they’ve done so far.”
In addition to award presentation, the event will also feature a keynote address from Sidney Ribaux, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the environmental and social movement organization Equiterre. Musical entertainment will be provided by Sudbury’s own Celtic/Acadian group Fagroongala. There will be a variety of hors d'oeuvre, and a cash bar.
reThink Green will also formally accept Ontario Trillium Foundation Funding, which has provided the foundation for the Green Economy North Program.
The Evening of Recognition will begin at 6:30pm. All are welcome, and the event is free for those who register online. Spaces are filling fast. Visit: www.greeneconomynorth.ca/eor2017 to reserve.
